MOBILITY is a southern African quarterly about integrated, sustainable and equitable land-use and transport policy and practice. A 2010 Impumelelo Sustainability Award winner, the magazine is highly regarded, and known for its excellent standard of original, independent editorial content, superb photographs and sometimes controversial opinion pieces. Launched in 2008, MOBILITY is now in its 13th edition.

Our readers fall within a broad definition of transport and land-use practitioners and planners – in the academic and private sector, civil society, as well as in local, provincial and national government. From planners, engineers, traffic law enforcers, air quality practitioners, transport activists and trade unionists, to the fuel and vehicle efficiency industry, intelligent transport, elected officials, policy-makers, financiers, architects, sustainability practitioners, public health practitioners, researchers and transport users… Anyone who is concerned that our future include low-carbon, equitable, safe, accessible, sustainable and affordable public, non-motorised and private transport.

South Africa, and the rest of the world, is grappling with climate change, urban gridlock, energy insecurity and the high price of fuel, low-density sprawl, public health concerns about obesity and air quality, persistent poverty and an inability to access needs and services.

MOBILITY contributes to reverse these trends, with information, insight and personal experience of local and international transport policy and practice. MOBILITY aims to stimulate debate and lead to improved delivery of our goal of equitable, integrated transport systems.

Mobility is published by Mobility Media, a joint venture between Gail Jennings, Sarah Hetherington and Katharine McKenzie.
